BEST BARBIE LOOKS FROM THE MOVIE
It’s time to talk about Barbie and her best looks in the movie. Visually, the movie is a wonder thanks to the the outstanding work of production design and also the costume design. The clothes that Barbie wears throughout the film are incredible and today I want to comment on my favorite outfits.
PINK COWGIRL
This look could be on Rosario Montes’s wardrobe for sure. I’m obsessed with the cute stars on the butt.
80s FANTASY ROLLER SKATER
I grew up with Heartbreak High and Sweet Valley High, so I’m really fond of Californian skater aesthetic from the 80s/90s. The neon colours, the prints, the accessories… everything is shocking and I love it. More is more.
BLING BLING CHANEL
A simple tweed dress with the best accessories though. The stone necklace and the Chanel bag are a truly fantasy.
BLUE WEDNESDAY
My absolute favorite is this look of a navy blue dress with a necklace that inevitably reminds me of Wednesday Addams and also Vivienne Westwood. Accessories are also of great importance here: the bow, the earrings, the stockings and the Mary Jane shoes, no words!
These are the looks that have impacted me the most, although there are many other very interesting ones as well. I have to mention Patriarchy Ken, with his fur coat, his fanny pack, his sunglasses and his 80 thousand watches. He has become an instant fashion icon.
Finally, I wanted to recommend some films where the protagonists are very ‘Barbie-coded’ and fashion has an important weight in the story: Pretty in Pink (1986), Clueless (1995) and Legally Blonde (2001).

AUTUMN LOOKS BY BETH HARMON
The Queen’s Gambit is one of the tv shows I’ve watched recently and I loved it! The plot, the characters, the aesthetic… everything is perfect!
The Netflix show is set in the 60s America. Which means that our protagonist, Beth Harmon, has an incredible amount of iconic and autumnal outfits. Thanks to Gabriele Binder, the stylist of the series, who took the inspiration in the Biba look.
Bárbara Hulanicki is the creator behind the Biba look. In 1964, she opened a clothing store in London: Biba. The distinctive style of the garments caused great enthusiasm in the London scene. And just like that the Biba look was born. Brigitte Bardot, Yoko Ono or Bárbara Streisand were some of the famous celebrities who wear this particular style.
¿No te parece?
Beth’s style evolve through the episodes, from her years in the orphanage to become a world chess champion. Clothes have a lot of meaning in her mood and they are very connected with chess: check prints, black and white outfits, etc.
All the looks bring us back the trends from the 60s and 70s which, btw, are very fashionable nowadays. The colours, textures, shapes, patterns and accessories are perfect for this season. Don’t you think?
