Muchas veces nos apetece dibujar, pintar y hacer ese tipo de cosas artísticas aunque no seamos muy mañosos (como es mi caso), pero nos encontramos con que no sabemos por dónde empezar. Así que, aquí tenéis una pequeña guía de las cosas que a mi me ayudan a conectar con mi parte artística.
Sometimes we feel like to paint, to draw or to do that kind of artistic activities even though we are not really good at it (like me), but, how to start? So this is a little guide about the things that help me to connect with my artistic side.
STEP 1: MUSIC
Amo la música, por lo que siempre es un buen momento para ponerse a escucharla. Además, la música está muy relacionada con las emociones, al igual que el arte. Escuchar tu playlist favorita activa tu cerebro y te pone de buen humor. Por si os interesa, os dejo mi lista de reproducción con todas las canciones de la serie Buffy Cazavampiros que tienen esas vibes oscuras noventeras que me encantan.
I love music and everytime is a good moment to listening it. Music is related with emotions and so do art. Listening to your favourite playlist activates your brain and it cheers you up. Here you have mi playlist based on songs from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, it has those dark 90’s vibes that I love.
STEP 2: RESEARCH
Tenemos la suerte de tener una herramienta tan poderosa como lo es Internet al alcance de nuestra mano. Aprovéchala para buscar imágenes que puedan servirnos de inspiración. Sitios como Tumblr, Pinterest, WeHeartit o, simplemente, realizar una búsqueda en Google pueden estimular nuestra imaginación.
Fortunately, we have, within hand’s reach, a powerful tool such as Internet. So, it is interesting using it to search pictures that inspires us. Websites like Tumblr, Pinterest, WeHeartit or simple making a research on Google can stimulate our imagination.
STEP 3: LET’S DO IT
Ahora que ya tenemos las ideas es el momento de pasar a la acción e intentar plasmarlas en el papel. Puede ser un proceso largo y en el que no nos guste lo que estamos haciendo, pero lo bueno es que podemos borrar o deshechar el dibujo y empezar de nuevo, tantas veces como lo necesitemos. Y tampoco tiene que ser la obra de nuestra vida, se trata de pasarlo bien.
Now, we have the ideas, it’s time to put them on paper. It can be a long process but if we don’t like what we are doing we will start again over and over, as we need it. Moreover, it has not to be a master piece, it’s all about having fun meanwhile.
STEP 4: PASAR A LIMPIO
Una vez tengamos el boceto de nuestro dibujo hecho, el siguiente paso es pasarlo a limpio, ya sea con bolígrafo negro o rotulador.
Once we have our sketch, we have to clean it. Rework the lines with a pen or a marker.
STEP 5: COLOR
Personalmente, me encanta pintar con acuarelas, creo que puedes hacer cosas muy chulis sin tener casi ni idea. De todos modos, hay infinidad de materiales con los que colorear nuestro dibujo: ceras, pintura acrílica, lápices de colores, rotuladores, etc. Lo mejor es que es posible combinar varias técnicas y experimentar. En este caso, yo mezclé las ceras con las acuarelas.
Personally, I prefer to paint with watercolors. I think is the best way to reach a good result even if you have no idea like me. However, there are a plenty of materials we can use to paint our drawing: crayons, markers, color pencils, acrilic paint, etc. The best part is we can combine different types and experiment with color. In this case, I combined crayons with watercolors.
STEP 6: FINISH OUR ARTWORK
Cuando la pintura esté seca procedemos a dar los acabados finales. Y ya está, nuestra pieza de arte está acabada. Si nos gusta mucho el resultado podemos pensar en colgarla de la pared.
When the paint is dry we can add the final details. And this is it, our artwork is finished. If we really like the result we can put it in a frame and hang it on the wall.
