Es 2018 y la igualdad sigue siendo una utopía. Afortunadamente, aquí tengo una lista con algunas de mis películas favoritas con las que inspirarnos gracias a estas poderosas mujeres.

It’s 2018 and equality is still an utopy. Fortunately, here’s some of my favourite films to get inspired by these powerful women.

PELÍCULAS / FILMS

No hay nada más poderoso que una mujer, excepto quizás cuatro adolescentes con poderes de bruja. Y de eso va Jóvenes y Brujas, de eso y de que no hay nada de malo en ser diferente, de hecho, ese es nuestro mayor poder. Esta película nos dice que no debemos tener miedo a no encajar, ¿quién sabe? Quizás conozcas a tres bichos raros como tú y seais amigas para siempre. Más razones para verla vibes de los 90 y ocho palabras: ligera como una pluma, rígida como una tabla.

Nothing’s more powerful than a woman but, how about four teenage girls with witch powers? And that’s the Craft’s main subject, and the fact that there is no problem with being different, that is our great power. This movie shakes off the fear of not fitting in. Who knows? Maybe you will meet other weirdos like you and all of you would be friends forever. More reasons to watch it 90s vibes and eight words: light as a feather stiff as a board.

Disney también puede tener películas feministas y Mulán es una prueba de ello. La película va sobre una chica que tiene que fingir ser un hombre para poder alistarse en el ejército, salvando así la vida de su padre (y de toda China de paso) ¿Cuántas de nuestras heroínas feministas han tenido que travestirse para poder acceder a campos reservados únicamente a los hombres como, por ejemplo, la universidad? Puntos extra: la banda sonora y todos los momentos divertidos con Mushu.

Disney has feminist films as well and Mulan proves it. A young lady who has to pretend she is a boy in order to save her father’s life (and all China, btw). How many of our feminist heroines had to crossdressing as a way to access to men’s reserved fields such as college? Extra points: BSO, and funny Mushu’s scenes.

A simple vista, Una Rubia Muy Legal puede parecer la típica comedia tonta, sin embargo,  encierra mensajes feministas muy importantes. Por ejemplo: que ser una apasionada de la moda no está reñido con ir a la universidad, que nunca hay que rendirse y que la autoestima es más importante que el amor romántico.

Legally Blonde seems the typical silly comedy film but it has very powerful messages for women. For example: fashion and college are compatible, never give up and self-esteem is more important than romantic love.

¿Otra comedia tonta? Puede, pero lo bueno de Fuera de Onda es que reivindica la amistad entre mujeres empoderadas que se apoyan unas en otras. Sí, puede que Cher y sus amigas estén un poco obsesionadas también con la ropa y la belleza pero ¿y qué?

Another silly comedy film? Maybe but Clueless shows us that is possible the friendship between empowered women who support each other. Yeah, maybe Cher and her friends are a little bit obsessed with fashion and beauty, so what?
