1. VACACIONES / THE HOLIDAY (2006)

Las comedias románticas no pueden faltar en Navidad y esta es una de las mejores que he visto. Los paisajes son preciosos, tiene momentos muy divertidos y entrañables, ¡y hay dos parejas a las que shippear!

Rom-com films are a must on Christmas and this is one of the best that I’ve ever seen. I love the landscapes, the funny and endearing moments, and the fact that there are two couples to shipping!

2. ANASTASIA (1997)

Es una de mis películas favoritas de todos los tiempos. Además de ser una estupenda película de princesas con una banda sonora increíble, la encuentro bastante nadiveña al estar ambientada en invierno.

One of my favourite movies of all time. Besides from being a great princess story with a wonderful soundtrack, I find it very christmassy because of it is set on winter.

3. SOLO EN CASA (1 Y 2) / HOME ALONE (1 & 2) (1990 – 1992)

Tanto la 1 como la dos son altamente recomendables para la Navidad. No obstante, me tengo que quedar con Solo en casa 2 porque Nueva York como escenario navideño me parece demasiado icónico.

The two movies work really well on Christmas. However, I prefer Home Alone 2 because New York on Christmas is simply iconic.

4. LA PRINCESA PROMETIDA / THE PRINCESS BRIDE (1987)

Nada como estar en cama y que te lean un cuento, ¿verdad? Eso es lo que le pasa al niño de esta película. Le leen un cuento sobre princesas, piratas, reyes, espadachines, gigantes, venganza y amor verdadero. Una preciosa y apasionante historia que calentará tu corazón incluso los días más fríos.

Nothing better than to have others read to you a story in bed, right? So, that is this movie about. This story is about princess, pirates, kings, swordsman, giants, revenge and true love. A beautiful and exciting film that it will warm your heart even the coldest days.

5. EDUARDO MANOSTIJERAS / EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (1990)

Esta película es tan mágica y especial que apenas tengo palabras para describirla. Un clásico navideño que me deja una sensación agridulce cada vez que la veo. Además, recientemente he descubierto que el personaje de Eduardo Manostijeras está inspirado en Michael Jackson, así que no puedo adorar más.

This movie is so magical and special that I have no words to describe it. A classical Christmas film that gives me a bittersweet feeling every time I watch it. In addition, I discovered recently that the character of Edward was inspired by Michael Jackson, so I cannot adore it more.

6. E.L.F. (2003)

¿Qué pasa cuando un elfo navideño aterriza en Nueva York? Esa es la premisa sobre la que parte E.l.f. Sin duda, una de las películas más divertidas para esta época del año. Las escenas de humor absurdo son de lo más graciosas.

What happen when an elf goes to NYC? That is the main idea of this film. No doubt, this is the funniest Christmas movie. I laugh so hard with all the absurd humour scenes!

7. LAS ÚLTIMAS VACACIONES / LAST HOLIDAY (2006)

Uno de mis géneros favoritos (si se le puede llamar así) es el de esas películas en las que la protagonista es una desgraciada, pero pasa por una transformación y termina consiguiendo todo lo que siempre deseó. Pretty Woman, Sucedió en Manhattan o Princesa por sorpresa con algunos ejemplos. Las últimas vacaciones es otra de esas películas, pero con el extra añadido de estar ambientada en Navidad.

One of my favourite genres (if you can call it a genre) is the kind of movie in which the protagonist is a complete loser, but after a makeover she gets all that she wants. Pretty Woman, Maid in Manhattan or The Princess Diaries are good examples. Last Holiday is one of these movies, plus christmassy vibes.

8. BATMAN VUELVE / BATMAN RETURNS (1992)

¿Una peli de superhéroes ambientada en Navidad? SÍ, SÍ, SÍ. Al igual que ocurre en Pesadilla antes de Navidad, Tim Burton logra mezclar con éxito el espíritu de la Navidad con lo siniestro de la ciudad de Gotham. El resultado es una película entretenida, con mucha acción y con el ambiente navideño como hilo conductor de la historia. Tampoco nos podemos olvidar de lo espectacular que está Michelle Pfeiffer de Catwoman.

A superheroes movie set on Christmas? YES, YES, YES! As in Nightmare before Christmas, Tim Burton is capable of mixing successfully the Christmas spirit with the dark side of Gotham City. The result is this entertaining and action movie with Christmas as the thread running through the plot. Extra reason to watch it: Michelle Pfeiffer looks amazing as Catwoman.
